The work I make
is based on the vessel as metaphor, the vessel as container.

My vessels contain softness, sensuality, privacy, discovery - all the while investigating a relationship to the body and the natural world.

Living forms
such as the human body are developed by millennia of evolutionary pressures.
I seek to invoke
the same sense of order and time in my work.

Evolution is a useful metaphor for the art-making process, as the vessel is a useful metaphor for a human being.

I have chosen the word “vessel” carefully, as it is neither pot nor object.
In my life
I play many roles; my work reflects just such a multifaceted world.

The vessel is important to me because it contains literally space in a cavity, but also personal expression and connection to ceramic history.

I am committed to work that invokes usefulness, as I am committed to being of use in my community.
